Thursday- catwalk

I head up to a well known photographer's studio at 4pm.

I arrive in time and start chatting. This shoot is a casting for top shop. He takes some normal shots and then makes me try on some of the new season topshop, girls-it's awesome.

I try on 5 different outfits and kept photographed in them. I was having a good day, and think i did well. There are promising signs, and even if i don't get topshop i get published material.

Then i head off to covent garden, jewel nightclub. I have my hair and make up done, and this time i was modelling for style of london- a well known magazine and online magazine in London. I was representing collectif- their new autumn collection. I had to wear their clothing as well as having photos taken. They have a very 40/50s style at the moment

Again, any free drinks and food. That's when i realized i probably ran up a £150 bill just on me.. well i wasn't paying.

Had a lovely rustic platter, thank you very much! Oh and cocktails

So i had a choice! Do i go out to the after party or do i get the last train home. Well naturally my decision would be after party with all the photographers and models. However, knowing i had just a weekend left with my boyfriend, i went back home.

There's always other chances for parties. I kind of wished i had gone out, but the photos are good and are going in my portfolio. See you in style of London guys

Catwalk Tuesday

After attending a jean fitting in selfridges, i head towards LUXX nightclub- just off regent street, at 5.30pm
As i enter the nightclub i see the rest of the models staring at me. I sit down waiting for hair and make up. The other models, on first site, appeared to be staring me out. On first opinion there seemed a lot of bitchness. They also all seemed to know each other in a strange way from other shoots. That's another thing, you all seem t gradually get connected.. networking darling!

The make up and hair stylists tied our hair into ponytails. Our make up was black eyes. We had rehearsals, and bonded with each other. Too my suprise, they were actually quite nice. Maybe it has something to do with the amount of nudity, due to quick costume changing, there is no room for modesty.

Finally the event starts. WE all walk and after we are allowed to mingle with the industry and photographer. We are also entitled to free drinks- what a bonus.

The catwalk was for graduate fashion designers.

If you can be persuasive enough, you can get a guest in, maybe two if you push enough. I managed to get a guest in, and although it wasn't my best night (as i'm high fashion, catalogue and beauty), really helped him get an insight into me. After the show ended, i decided to go for a late dinner- yes, 12.30 dinner.. Any guess' where.. well darlings, that's CHINNA TAWNN

Overall a good night. I met some nice models, and have kept in contact. If anything, it's built up a bigger network for me, so i'm happy with what i achieved.

19th June

6AM

WHHHATTT..

o god. Driving from east Sussex to London today. Then train and tube. I put my I-pod in grumpily, do not disturb me, please! My I-pod is standard pre-prep help. Lately, my best tunes to listen to is: starry eyed, try sleeping with a broken heart, you make me want to die, empire state of mine, sexy bitch, stereo love.

Back on the point, the train guy comes and wakes me up to see my ticket. Boy, did I give him my ticket. Ticket to hell more like. Then I have two fat smelly guys come sit next to me, and chatting really loudly about computer software, or something, straight over my head. There should be a ban on this kind of thing, especially at uncanny times. So up the volume on my I-pod

So get into the studio for hair and make up, late, once again. I am very annoyed by this point as i had to take a de-tour as the district line is closed for engineering works. Why aren't tubes controlled by computers, and why can't they do this at night? On goes London underground ( if you heard it you know what I mean).

The agenda for today is bright colours; orange and yellow or eyes, peachy cheeks, and orange lips. This was great considering i had just been bitchin' on the phone about how i hate orange and it reminds me of hospitals and shrinks. Needless to say, i was pretty embarrassed.

My hair was curled ( which knocked off 3 years on my age. This is not saying much considering I usually look 15)

The other girl has very short blonde hair which was spiked and she had black smokey eyes, with the biggest eye-lashes i've seen.

We set off to the location. Firstly Trafalgar square, which proved to be too busy. We then proceeded to go to St James' Park. I had to do smiley and not to posed photos, which is not my speciality. I prefer what Rose got; dramatic, striking and intense. However i did smiley as we were meant to contrast and I was colourful. I do prefer emotional black and white though.

After shooting we went back to the studio sorted out paper work and payment, and then I was free to go.

I went to a Chinese with the girls, absolutely shattered, and then films. By 1 am the s'morning I was asleep before I knew it in yesterdays clothes. Opps

After note-

So I thought at this point I should tell you about myself. I am average height; 5'7, brown eyes. I have a English/Cypriot heritage. I am not pretty. I just can work a camera on a rare good day. I am thinking about going to my natural brown hair but not sure it may make me look too exotic, as I already get people trying to communicate with me in strange languages, too which I reply in a clear crisp English accent ' sorry can you learn English'.

I am very self-concious a lot more than the average girl, which is saying a lot. I hang out with my friends as natural me, not much make-up and only my 5 closest friends know about this. I've been published, especially on line, and its possible I may be in foreign magazines.

I love eating. Something i learnt about models they eat so much more than anyone else. None of this 'they pick at grapes and then moan how fat they are'. They eat like crazy huge meals, like they've never eaten before. I also eat, sometimes 4 meals a day, and whatever I want.

I care about my friends more than anything. I have a lovely boyfriend who ( I think) gets paranoid about what I do, but he has nothing to worry about.

I love music and water. I love adventure. I love daydreaming. I love make up and flashing lights.

Wed 16th

OH blast

I'm running round like a headless chicken. God I have so much to do. Where's my freak'enn top?

The fact that I'm a blonde (out a bottle of course) should explain the fact that I'm very stupid. The day started with me leaving my phone and rushing back, then realising I can't see, and attempting inserting contact lens on in the tube. However, with no mirror this ends up around me cheek, whilst I'm trying to poke my eye out. The woman opposite me laughing and cracking out jokes really helped my ego.

Eventually, I arrive at the studio, a little late may I add. From there it's all go go go... Oh, how familiar that is. The make up artist goes for a 40's look with a twist; which means red lips and top heavy black liner. I suppose it was a look?

The hair stylist does this crazy back brushed 40s bird nest thing on top of my head. My hair is pinned back and curled to make it shorter. What the hell, I could pull this off??

Today I was against a black background. I posed on a stool. They were all beauty shots which meant all head work and turning and twisting at angles. I'm use 2 whole body work, no innuendo meant!

The shoot went on and I watched the other girl who had a 80s look. The photographer was female, late twenties, and just brilliant. Really funny, and talkative.

So shoot done, and my superior intelligence decide it would be a good idea to go exploring little Venice. There i am, looking a cross between a 40's wife and a modern day girl. Jeez, all in one day as well!I'm sure people loved the bird nest I had on top of my head. If anyone sees this, I don't usually go out like that. Promise!

Tues 15th

After having a week off, I was fully recovered and ready to do more shoots.

This shoot started at 10am with RC photographer.

Met the photographer and make-up artist at the tube station. After make up was done; firstly kept natural, I wore a flowery dress and posed by graffiti. Once again i had the problem of people stopping to stare. However it was a good shoot, although a freezing day, and i was very cold. We then went to a river near royal oak. I changed into a white dress, had pearls on, and the stylist did bridal hair and make up. There were a few shots taken from here, but it was very cold.

We went into a cafe for lunch. The guy let us do make-up there, probably a claim to fame for his cafe, he thought, only joking!!. I changed into shorts and a cropped top, and then finally got given red leggings (anyone know where some can be found?), denim skirt, arm warmers, and black grunge top, with a black bench belt. My make up was red lips, and black and red huge extended eyes (look at pics).

The day was good, we got good shots even if interrupted.

Photographer was great;
"great darling, just great, hold it there"
" wow darling that's perfection, and arm out"
"GREAT shot, this is the winning magazine shot"

I am happy with the day and creativity. I got home about 7pm and decided to go to Westfield for a lovely Italian. Needless to say, I was pretty tired by the time I got home later that night.

5th June

New day. New shoot!

Today, I'm travelling to Sheperd's Bush. I arrive and meet up with the photographer, make-up artist, and other model. We go to the hair and make up studio. I'm first in having make-up done; which is a natural look, in one of my photos below; polarise style. I get changed and where the white t-shirt. Then, we both get splashed with paint. I'm in primary colours, and the other girl in secondary colours. It is everywhere, shucks for the white wall of the make-up rooms. We go back to studio and have more 'after photos'. The difference with studio shoots is everything is perfect. In some ways they take longer because of lack of natural lighting and a lot more equipment. Behind all the lights and everything is the model. This was a natural shoot with not much experiment of poses. I was told to sit directly to camera with no expression and wide eyes. I like it, and it was very creative. There is a certain buzz to studio shoots.
After quite a long day we got the images, and called it a day! The make up artist was really good. It was a fun day. The music and studio lighting really helps make it a more comfortable expedition.

3rd June, London bridge

Once again, I get a horrible shock when my alarm wakes me up. I made the mistake of going out and staying up late the night before, as I can't resist London at night time!
I have a shower and sort out my hair. Put on sun glasses so cover up the fact I have no make up on. I' sorry, but girls, don't you agree going out without make up is hell? Anyway, it was a lovely day and walking to tower bridge was beautiful. I was wearing Jeans, so over-heating a bit. However, the dress down thing is vital for modelling, and so is bringing a pair of jeans, that's a tip for any of you guys going on a shoot!
I meet up with the four photographers, make-up artist, and two other models, what a group! After giving everyone kisses and hello's we set off down the stairs.

We get permission to use a cafĂ©'s table, outside, thank god! and start the make up. Whilst the first girl; Aisling is having her make-up done, Alicia and me are taken off to the gardens to do some shooting, with no-make up too much horror. After five minutes, we get a guy coming and telling us because we're professionals we need permission to shoot, and have to pay £500.

We stop that and Alicia gets her make-up done. Finally it was my turn. Unfortunately, due to the heat the make-up artists make-up melted. She is going to have to buy new make up, what a disaster! Around 2 hours had passed by now, so there was pressure to start shooting.

We head off to a little stone beach and rails, a really good shooting place on of the photographers found. Firstly, the three of us, were posing on stairs. The composition was organised, and we got some good shots. We were wearing jeans, heels, and tops chosen for us individually, as well as some funky hats. Apart from Alicia's hat blowing into the Thames, and rapidly saved by one of the photographers, it was a good shoot.

We then moved into tiny London cobbled streets. We used most things to pose; including door frames, bars, walls and rails. We achieved some good results and had a change. I got given black linen shorts and white shirts, and the other two, white linen shorts and black top. This was because I am 5'7 and they are both 5'10, I'm still wishing on my lucky stars to have a growth spurt.

We then changed into maxi dresses, chosen for our looks. I had a brown-y orange one. We worked with these and Aisling went for another shoot. So, at 4.30pm it was lunch time, and boy, was I glad. We ate and chatted, all of us getting on very well. The photographers were the best yet; they were amazing to work with. I really want to work with these photographers again. I couldn't have asked for nicer, professional, and better photographers. There work is outstanding.

They run this site, so people, I urge you to find them and work with them.

Then we went and did some more shooting in and around tower bridge. After a day that felt like fun than work, good images, and everyone happy we said goodbye.

I would definitely work with the photographers again. They were amazing people and I am still in contact with them regularly.

Once again, I retreat home, hoping a massage is in order when I get home...

Sometimes you just have to wait and see!

1st June - 2 shoots

Ding ding! Ding ding!, goes my alarm. Oh god, I open one eye and look at the time. Shit! I have an hour to get to Bank to do my first shoot. It was starting at 8am.

I take a rain check on the shower, and run out with a collection of stuff, stuffed (literally) into my small bag; on wheels may I add! The first thing I ever learnt from modelling is bring as many props, accessories, jewellery, shoes, and changes of clothes as you can possibly manage to heave up London underground escalators. The reason being, is to increase your heart-rate, and therefore, burn more calories and lose more weight! Only joking, the official reason is because the sun may shine on your yellow shoes better than black, or that lovely flowery hairpiece may compliment the grass, in a c'est mervieaux way.

So, after sitting in the body-odour busy tube, (thinking to myself I need to discuss with my agent why I don't have a limo waiting, HA I wish) I arrive! I meet the photographer with no problems, obviously he is the guy with all the reflectors, lenses, camera, and general photographer equipment. If this wasn't the case, it would be obvious to distinguish by the older guy with glasses, standing at angles and admiring the graffiti whilst cupping his thumbs and first fingers in a way that he is viewing through a camera.

I walk up introducing myself, and we set off to the location, which turns out to be in and around bank. After deciding what of his clothes, and mine, that we're too use, we through together the finished look, hoping it looks edgy rather than ' I just bundled a load of items together in the hope people think I'm an artist'. Hair and make up was kept natural, well, as natural as possible apart from the fact my huge puffs and red sleep deprived eyes, needed to be covered up with copious amounts of concealer.

Finally, time to shoot. We found lots of stone walls and this was to be our shooting location. I got straight into it, ignoring my yawns and tiredness. The shoot went smoothly and lasted for 2 hours, slightly longer than expected. We stopped for a 5 minute break in this time, so I was getting a little achy.

After a successful shoot with Alan, we called it a day! Both of us were happy with the shoot and finished product.

Yay, I now had 3 hours until my next shoot. I arranged to meet up with someone, and persuaded him it would be a good idea to buy vodka and drink on a step near Hyde park, on a summers day, at lunch time. After relaxing, I was feeling much happier and livelier for my afternoon, and perhaps just a little tipsy.

3pm struck! I met the photographers; Ravi and Sachin, by Hyde park. At the time, it was Nicole; another model and me. We had our hair styled, and make up done, we got changed. To both Nicole and my horror, the only changing facility was Hyde park toilets, nice!

I started the shoot with a white dress, back brushed hair, with a plait running across the front. It was a lovely summers afternoon, so Nicole and I switched to model, and mine was intermittent with sunbathing.

After a hour or this another model called Jack arrived. The photographers concentrated on giving Jack some close ups, and full lengths, which left Nicole and me time to discuss previous experiences, shoots, and industry related stuff. Of course, we were sitting on a rail, and naturally posing, so it didn't surprise us when we hear 'click, click, click..' Us being confident we stood up on the rail and posed against the lamp-post. The photographers went crazy over it taking countless photos from all angels, and we see Jack laughing at it.

It was then time for a group picnic shoot. After having the sun moving position we decided to go to the next location; a tree. The tree had amazing branches and ground height. The props included a guitar.

This is when Nikhil arrived. Ravi and Sachin concentrated on shooting the men for a while, so Nicole and me ate our body weight through her bread, snacks, dips, and mini-bites.
" Wow, you girls are hungry"
Says the photographer. We decided to stop binging and get behind the camera. Again, they switched between individual and group shots. All the way through the shoot Jack decided to provide music on his guitar, which features La Bamba, by Ritche Valence ( check it out, it sets the mood), wow I love my job.

The time was now 7pm; it got late very quickly. We set off to the main path in Hyde Park, and the third outfit change. The photographers set up the equipment and reflectors and sheets. All our previous locations has been more discrete, so here we faced the problem or interruptions:
" Can I have your autograph"
" Who is this shoot for"
" Oh my God, someone famous, quick camera! (snap snap)"
After ignoring countless people trying to talk we were in full swing, despite hunger settling in. We walked, we posed, we did absolutely everything, and achieved great results.

At 8.30, after signing release forms talking about future shoots we headed off in our different directions.

I haven't ever worked with such fun people and such a lovely group that got on really well. I've met up with them since, and will carry on doing so. It was a great shoot and look forward to working with them again.

Finally I arrive home! I was aching everywhere from the posing, and really hungry. I had a shower and a bite to eat, and fell into deep well-earned sleep.

Ciao people.
